Anniversary of an Atrocity

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade … the landmark Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States.

To mark the solemn occasion … pro-lifers are heading to a variety of events across the nation … most notably to Washington D.C. to take part in the annual March For Life this Friday … where organizers expect record crowds.

Stay tuned to ChurchMilitant DOT TV for continuing coverage of the March For Life.

Celebrating Roe

The Center for Reproductive Rights has released a video message celebrating the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade … which has raised the ire of many pro-lifers … one prominent pro-life activist calling the video clip “twisted, offensive and creepy”.

The clip … called “Happy 40th Birthday, Baby” … features an actor sharing a romantic birthday message for his beloved Supreme Court decision.

One Child Policy Stands

One week ago … we reported that rumors of China ending it’s One Child Policy appeared to be untrue.

A Chinese family planning official has indeed confirmed that his country will be staying the course with their policy ,,, by stating at a conference for the National Population and Family Planning Commission QUOTE “We need to keep the One-child policy and keep the national birth rate low . . . It’s our priority.”

Vietnam at the Vatican

Yesterday … Pope Benedict met with the secretary general of the Communist Party in Vietnam … a country where Catholics often face persecution from the atheist government.

The meeting is noteworthy because it’s the first time the most powerful member of the Communist Party is visiting the Pope … which could signal a desire to improve relations between Vietnam and the Vatican.

Fashion Statement
On Monday … Justice Antonin Scalia made a fashion statement … wearing some rather distinctive headgear for Obama’s inauguration.
While Scalia made no comment as to why he wore the hat … we do know that it’s a custom-made replica of the hat depicted in the famous portrait of St. Thomas More … who was martyred by the tyrant King Henry VIII for standing up against oppression of the Catholic Church.
